1st week on sbl
I was surprised with how different it is when moving from middle school to Juniors, but in saying that I don't think one was necessarily easier to work with than the other. The juniors were a lot more excited and hyper about everything making it more difficult to keep them calm and listening. In the middle school class I was working in they were all very independent and were aloud to decide what work they want to work on which days of the week so long as they had all there work done by Thursday, this would be rewarded with fun Friday. I don't think this method would work as well with the juniors because they are far more likely to get distracted and do what they want to do. I took half of the junior class for a pe lesson at the end of the day and was told we were to be working on nerf throwing skills. I found it very difficult to control the juniors and get them all listening and patiently waiting for instructions, they were very keen to simply start throwing the nerf's and then running off to go collect them without instruction. I managed to get it together by the end of the lesson by sorting out everyone so that they would throw at the same time and collect at the same time. The only problem with this is that there were not enough nerf's for everyone so I told the kids to share the Nerf's and they responded really well to that, i noticed a lot of kids walking up to kids without a nerf and offering them a turn to throw.
